Hello! It’s been a crazy week, and I haven’t had much time to do anything. I seem to have developed a sinus infection last Sunday, so I was fighting it all week and had to take a small break from my workouts. The week didn’t exactly go as planned in terms of my general fitness and nutrition routine, but I guess my body could have used a break and I am hoping to bounce back strong this week.
After my friend’s barbecue last Saturday, I went to sleep and woke up pretty early Sunday. I made a breakfast of eggs and kiwi, and then Julian and I headed out to the trails with Oliver. We ended up exploring an abandoned-looking area near the field that had some serious Stranger Things vibes. There was a guarded lab area and several “Warning” and “Danger” signs.

Later, we decided to go to dinner at the Cheesecake Factory since we had a gift card to use. I got the fish tacos and a whiskey ginger drink. It was beautiful outside so we sat on the patio.

I had a really hard time falling asleep Sunday because the sinus issues seemed to have gotten worse throughout the day. I tried hot tea, honey, and using my humidifier with essential oils, but I tossed and turned all night and only ended up with a few hours of sleep. I had a green smoothie with a Vitamin C drink for breakfast, but I didn’t eat much throughout the day because it hurt to swallow. I thought maybe I could “sweat it out” and decided to try a small arm workout when I got home.

I did lots of wall push-ups, some biceps curls, triceps dips, regular push-ups, and a few different plank varieties. I had a huge crown of broccoli for dinner and tried to go to bed early, but it was still hard to sleep.
Tuesday, I was feeling slightly better but not by much. I had a green smoothie for breakfast and zucchini pasta with broccoli for lunch. After work, a colleague took me and another co-worker out for appetizers and drinks, but I didn’t want to go too nuts since I still wasn’t feeling great.

I drank lots of water to stay hydrated. When I got home, I went to buy some Mucinex and hoped that would start to clear my sinuses a bit. I was finally able to sleep more than a few hours that night and was feeling slightly better Wednesday. I had green tea with mint and ginger, and lunch was raw broccoli with pineapple hummus and a vegan “chik’n” patty. After work, I went to see Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark with my mom. I remember reading the books as a kid, and the movie was pretty good!
Thursday was a long day at work, and I had more zucchini pasta with broccoli for lunch. I was planning to meet up with my friend after work, but I wanted to do a quick 1o-minute yoga stretch first. It felt kind of weird not working out all week, but I wanted to help loosen my muscles a bit since we planned on walking a couple miles.

We wanted to check out a new vegan/vegetarian restaurant that opened up near my apartment somewhat recently. It was really cute inside, and the staff was very welcoming and kind.

I tried the vegan chicken flautas and the Poblano and cheese tamale and both were delicious! I also had strawberry-watermelon infused water, which was super-refreshing. I will definitely be back to try more food here.
Later, I decided to walk Oliver. It was a beautiful evening, a little windy and cool, and the sky was dark and cloudy.

Friday, I went into work early. I drank a quick smoothie of spinach, blueberries, cherries, ginger, Amazing Grass greens, hemp oil, and chia seeds before I left. Lunch was a quick frozen meal, which helps when I am on the go. I had the Evol-brand goat cheese and portabella ravioli which was prepared with sauteed spinach and red peppers. Not bad for a quick, inexpensive lunch.

After, I had another work event at a bar near the office, and I was exhausted when I got home. I ended up falling asleep on the couch.
Today, I woke up pretty early and couldn’t go back to sleep. I wanted to work out, but decided to give my body one more day of rest since I still wasn’t feeling 100% and had been out every day this week. I made a breakfast of over-hard eggs and seasoned potatoes and went to take Oliver for a walk. The garden has been vibrant all summer.

Later, I went to a Labor Day barbecue at my aunt’s house. She’s a great cook and we always have a good time! They also have an awesome garden where they grow cucumbers, zucchini, jalapeño peppers, green peppers, and tomatoes. It was fun to visit with family, and we got to spend some time soaking up the sun before it started pouring. Now, I just finished washing my bedding and am relaxing next to the open window with a cucumber-lime infused water.

Someone is burning a fire out there, and the cool evening air has me anxious to go to Bath & Body to soon to search for some fall-scented candles. “Leaves” is my favorite! I hope you all enjoy your long weekend and have a great week.
