Working full-time, I have a pretty specific morning routine I follow to help me feel like I have everything together. I always take a Vitamin C capsule along with a cod liver oil capsule, and every other day I have a shot of apple cider vinegar (two tablespoons) diluted with water and a teaspoon of cayenne pepper.
My breakfast always consists of a smoothie. This is especially helpful since I’m on the go. Although the fruit and vegetable content varies, the items below are my go-to smoothie editions. I also include about a tablespoon of hemp seed oil and will occasionally add flaked hemp hearts.

I love incorporating collagen peptides into my smoothies because my hair and nails grow super-fast and my skin retains moisture very well. Unfortunately, I still see some breakouts here and there, but I have always had combination skin.
The green superfood is a favorite because it comes with probiotics, which help gut health and have a myriad of other benefits.
Both chia seeds and flax seeds are greats source of protein and fiber, and they have proven cancer-fighting components and are high in nutrients and omegas.
Every two weeks, I’ll buy a large ginger root and peel, chop, and freeze it. Ginger is anti-inflammatory and full of antioxidants, and I absolutely love the smell and taste. Anything ginger-flavored draws me in.
The base of my smoothies generally consists of about 1/2 cup – cup of V8. I know this may not be the best choice for those trying to avoid sugar, so I usually go for the low-sugar V8 in the “healthy greens” flavor. You can also use water, almond or cashew milk, or a low-carb/low-sugar drink, like Bai.
Some of my favorite items to add to my smoothies are kale, spinach, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, and strawberries. I also like to add pineapple, and occasionally, I’ll add sprouts or dandelion root. You can also add protein powder!
I love the energy I feel after drinking these each morning, and I especially love that they are nutrient-packed, full of antioxidants, and strengthen my immune system to ward off illness!
